Socialise and practise your signing skills every Thursday from 8pm at the The Guild Pub (Fylde Road, Preston).


If you want to practise your BSL and have fun socialising with Deaf students, come and join the Deaf & BSL Society.  They have a Coffee Afternoon every Wednesday (12 noon - 2pm) in Green Olive, Student Union.  It will cost you 50p to attend the Coffee Afternoon and you will receive a £1 voucher to buy anything from the Green Olive.

If you want to join the Deaf & BSL Society the membership fee is £2 per year.  (As a member, you will get a discount or free entry to any of the Deaf & BSL Society's social events).

The Deaf & BSL Society host many social events throughout the academic year.  For example: Welcoming Party, Eid/Diwali Celebration, Fancy Dress Party, Day/Weekend Trips.  They also host parties at Christmas and Easter, on Valentine’s Day and at Graduation time.

All students are welcome to attend the research seminars organised by the Deaf Studies team.  Recent seminars have covered important deaf-related issues such as bilingual education and genetics.  For more information about future research seminars contact Martin Atherton: matherton1@uclan.ac.uk
